THE fRIEND zONE bLUES
How do you express in words how it feels to be an inmate-victim of the Friend Zone?
Personally, I can't do it. But songwriters in the Spanish language are mighty good at it. So I translated their lyrics into this little, humble piece into English. It's a song interpreted (or sung) by Mexican singer Christian Castro and he's done a splendid job of it. This song expresses in song form what I've felt so many times for women I've had to settle as a friend for. This is a hellish existence that so many people have felt and yet don't know how to express.
So, it's for them, who have too often loved from afar, and loved in vain, that that I dedicate this song.
I'm
still here in my dream of continuing to love you
Will it be?
It will be as you want, but it will be
If I still have seven more lives to wait for you
I will get hung up on this feeling
For loving You so
Is that my fortune, is that my punishment?
Could it be that so much love is forbidden?
I'm still here dying to be with you
For loving You so
One step away from your mouth and without being able to . . . , kiss
it
So close to your skin and unable to touch it
Burning with desire with every look
For loving You so
For loving You so
For loving You
So I walk on this tightrope
For going after your footprint turned into a shadow
Prisoner of the love that you denied me one day
Counting the seconds that go by to see you
Making you guilty of my own luck
Daydreaming of making you mine
Will be
It will be as you want, but it will be
If I still have seven more lives to wait for you
I will get hung up on this feeling
For loving You so
Is that my fortune, is that my punishment
Could it be that so much love is forbidden?
And I'm still here dying to be with you
For loving You so
One step away from your mouth
and without being able to . . . , to kiss it
So close to your skin and
unable to touch it
Burning with desire with every look
For loving You so
For loving You so
